THE HISTORY OF AMBER.

Our Origins.

The birth of Amber was in the summer of 2008. The seed for the founding of Amber was planted in the alleys of the slums in Kolkata (Calcutta); where we saw hope preponderating over the bleak and stark reality of oppression that plagued the very alleys of Bolbazaar (slum area in Kolkata).

Friendship was the medium that expanded the reality of hope. “This is not just a group in ‘need’, they are my friends” was the spirit in which inspired many youth in Singapore and beyond. The need to tear away from apathy was intense and deep.

Amber was then formally created to galvanise and lead youth to leverage their expertise in the fight against human trafficking and in particular the trafficking of children for labor and sex.

‘Turning the red-light into green’. Our first logo that captured our anti-sex trafficking sentiment.
